Capabilities

What official sources support

  • OpenAI documented video and synchronized audio generation
  • Improved steerability, physics, realism, and stylistic range relative to the original Sora
  • MagicLight currently displays Sora 2 in its model catalog

Capabilities documented by the developer are not automatically identical to limits, pricing, output settings, or controls exposed by a third-party platform. MagicLight access was checked separately.

Workflow

How to test Sora 2 inside MagicLight

  1. First confirm that Sora 2 is actually selectable in your MagicLight account and region.
  2. Treat MagicLight as the current access and billing layer; do not rely on old Sora app instructions.
  3. Use a bounded shot prompt with camera, action, dialogue, sound, and rights-cleared references.
  4. Review provenance, likeness, physical logic, and current platform terms before publishing.

Use the same difficult representative shot when comparing models. Record credits, review time, usable seconds, continuity, and the reason a render passed or failed.

Fit

Strengths and practical use cases

  • Video and synchronized audio in OpenAI's release documentation
  • Strong prompt interpretation and stylistic range
  • Useful historical benchmark for generative-video development

Good candidates include storyboarded narrative scenes, image-to-video shots, product or character continuity tests, and motion studies where the documented strengths align with the brief.

Prompt guidance

Original prompt patterns to adapt

If the model is available, create an eight-second fictional museum scene with one impossible paper sculpture unfolding; no real person, brand, public event, or documentary styling. Include soft room tone only.
Animate an original rights-cleared character stepping from shadow into a painted set. Preserve the approved face and costume; avoid celebrity resemblance and end on a neutral pose.

Replace generic details with approved story facts and references. State what must remain fixed, keep the first test bounded, and avoid using real likenesses or protected assets without permission.

Limitations

What to verify before production

  • OpenAI's current pages state that the Sora product stopped being available on April 26, 2026.
  • MagicLight's display of Sora 2 does not establish that OpenAI's former app or every original feature remains available.
  • Non-consensual likeness, misleading media, and provenance require particular care.

Commercial use depends on the rights to inputs, the model developer's terms, MagicLight's current plan language, and the intended distribution context. Synthetic-media disclosure and consent rules may also apply.
